Gout and Alcohol: What’s the Guts ?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: GOUT

Yes it is a FACT!   Gout and Alcohol are closely linked.  Alcohol is a major contributor to the onset of gout.  Excess alcohol causes overload problems as the kidneys struggle to flush out toxins quick enough.  Then what happens?

The build up of uric acid increases and because it has nowhere to go it crystallises in the blood stream and travels to joints in the body, eg: big toe, knee or fingers.

Beer is one of the worst drinks according to some researchers and if you can imagine the Homer Simpson types who sit on the couch watching TV, drinking beer and eating salted chips or peanuts.  This is your classic gout case, sedentary lifestyle, lots of alcohol intake and fatty foods or snacks.

Out of all alcohol, wine is one drink that is not related to gout.  I read some interesting facts about some research carried out on several men over a period of time.  To read more about these findings CLICK HERE

The good news is that gout is not something you have to live with.  You may need to take a look in the mirror and identify the factors that are attributing to your gout. Are you overweight?   Do you eat salty and rich foods?  Do you binge drink?  Is there a history of gout in your family?  Take stock of where you are at, get it together, take control of your situation, get clear, get more exercise, drink more fresh juices and water during the day, breathe deeply and decide to make some changes.  You may not have to make untold changes, just tweak things a little.

Hi – great site you have here. I get a lot from reading other sites about alcoholism – they are so educational. Thank you for having this blog. I don’t have time to read all the articles right now, I found this site when looking for something else on Google, but I’ve bookmarked your homepage and will check back soon to see what’s new. The internet can be so informative, and I have learned a great deal from reading sites like yours. As someone who has struggled with addiction myself, I have started a site devoted to the topics. Please visit my site at http://www.qvof.com when you have time. Have a good week!
