Mate- Drink a lot of water,Rather drown yourself, 4 – 5 liters a day. Flush out your system. No Alcohol, red meat etc. Don’t deprive yourself but rather once a week a drink or 2, but no beer absolutely. Plenty of fruits and vegges. Dont forget, once your gout is under control, go for a walk about an hour each day.

  13. sabyrulz Says:

Drink a lot of water and flush out your kidneys. I’d say rather drink as much as 4-5liters a day. You’ll get irritated in the begining but will get used in a few weeks. I got hospitalised with kidney stones due to Uric acid. Mate- Simple, Drink a lot of water. No Beer or any alcohol – Save money. Lots of fruits and an hours walk daily.

Hello, I went to many, many doctors because of my gout. Every doctor had a different thing to avoid or get more of. One family practice doctor came clean and admitted he just didn’t know as much about it as he should. Here’s what I found. Too much red meat, shrimp, nuts, and beer. The darker the beer the worse it is. What is life without beer. Sometimes I think breathing gives me the gout. I wonder if the acid crystals build up in the kidneys and then attack, or do they collect in the joint slowly?

  17. unacarafea Says:

I can’t figure out why my M.D. told me to stay away from bananas. He told me that bananas have too much potassium and even a small amount will give me a gout attack. He also told me that no one should ever need a supplement of vit. C if they eat right. Is he wacky or just not as smart as a nutritionist?

  18. gazzage Says:

my doctor got me to take diclofenac or dicloflex as its now called these can help bring uric acid down but you have to take them every 8 hours at least just to maintain a steady flow of it through you system but they do work but only slowly and if you take them regular.I hope you get better soon mate i dont know your pain but can understand how intense it gets.gout laid me out for 6 weeks once ,but it does go away.but there are no pills for patience especially when it hurts so much :(

  19. wantbanana Says:

i have gouts.and im into dialysis. but i just cant eat much bananas because of potassium. how much bananas do you think i need to eat?

  20. g10gmx Says:

ive had an acute gout attack for over a month and and have not recoverd yet, both my knees look like to giant tomatoes and sick and tired of it. if cherries and apple cider vinegar does bring down uric acid im gonna have to go to the store and drink gallons everyday for sure. colchecine aint doin its job so i guess its my only option.

  21. rejwow Says:

    beer drinking ?

  22. ambidextrality Says:

Lead poisoning can cause gout. Too much protein and purines which are high in beans and nuts.

  23. ambidextrality Says:

…gout can cause calcium oxalate Or uric acid stones. The latter of which are rather soluble with bicarbonate or citrate, the latter of which is found in lemon juice. Bicarbonate is found in baking soda, but sodium is actually a risk factor for stones as sodium will excrete calcium. Look for potassium bicarbonate instead. It will treat gout too by increasing uric acid solubility. Citrate will also change the pH; 6-6.5, so lemon juice should dissolve gout too.

  24. ambidextrality Says:

Excess Vitamin C, such as from supplements, can allegedly convert to oxalate which is a risk factor for calcium oxalate nephrolithiasis, as is gout, via increased uric acid supersaturation of the urin which promotes kidney stone formation.

  25. slop101 Says:

Aspirin can block the absorption of Uric acid and lead to a gout attack.
